Peter loves to draw and to carve. He was an architect in London before moving to Florida 11 years ago. Since then he has been prolific with his pencils – graphite and color. His chosen subjects range from wildlife to local scenes and he is regularly commissioned for portraits of people, pets and homes.

Although his drawings are accurately realistic his wood carvings are purely abstract – expressing the grain and form inherent in the wood itself.

New Direction Series

Peter has forever been interested in creating three-dimensional space expressed in two-dimensional  drawing; not surprising with his architectural background. This has led to his “New Direction” of ink and color pencil Geometric Spatial Constructions.

Peter’s aim is to build an imaginary spatial landscape of vanishing points, grids, hyperbolic paraboloids, frames, spheres, spirals and cubes in ink line and then to intensify the construction with strong color. He judges the success of each piece by the amount of visual depth and balanced composition created. He is also fascinated by geometrically based optical illusion achieved by the juxtaposition of bands of contrasting colors. His “New Direction” Series features his skillful understanding of three-dimensional spaces powerfully expressed in line and vivid color..   

Peter has exhibited his drawings and sculptures in numerous competitions and art leagues in Southwest Florida. He has won awards at the Art League of Bonita Springs, Estero Art League and in Florida West Arts. His work has also been featured in Wildlife Art Magazine.

Peter is currently exhibiting drawings and sculptures (and working) Monday thru Saturday 10:00 am to 3:00 pm with extended hours on Thursday until 8:00 pm in the Art League Studio #138 at the Promenade, Bonita Springs, Florida.
